Saudi plastics and petrochemical exports grew from less than half a billion dollars in 1985, to 22 billion dollars in 2011. The Kingdom’s plastics production increased significantly last year, and exceeded 1.7 million tons. Polymers account for 16 million tons of total yearly petrochemical production in the kingdom. This is expected to increase to 20 million tons per year by 2020. Total Saudi Investments in Plastics reached USD 50 billion.
