1-SABIC innovate new foam solutions at US Expo
SABIC, the global leader in the petrochemical company, will exhibit its new portfolio of innovations at US EXPO. Sabic will present broad portfolio of lightweight foam solutions for the first time. Worth mentioning that the offers contain more than 20 solutions. The materials include PP, PS, PU, EVA, Elastomers and PE. These Innovations will help manufactures to meet customers need at all levels such as sustainability and cost optimization. Sabic also will showcase wide range of applications that made by the foam especially PP foam. The applications include trunk liners, water shields and PP planks.
2-UAE Starts to ban single-use plastic. Dubai, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, has started ban on all plastic bags.
They aim to encourage the use of reusable products. For now, the ban is only on single use plastic shopping bags. They provide some alternatives for the shoppers such as thicker traditional-look plastic bags. It can be reused more over four times, paper bags and woven bags. Although gulf petrochemical companies and association (GPCA) agreed that this step need to be taken, but they have some considerations. They commented on that by saying that this ban of the lightweight plastic bags may send wrong message to the consumers. As the alternatives may also increase the litter on dessert and beaches. The new degradable bags can be absorbed easily in the environment in some special conditions such as sunlight and humidity. When they disintegrate don’t disappear but turned into smaller pieces that can be retrieved hardly.
3- An increase in Propylene prices in Asia
Propylene prices rise in ASIA due to the improved regional buying sentiment and the upstream crude values.
4-PP & PE markets drift in the Middle East
Middle Eastern polypropylene and polyethylene markets plunge in Middle east because of demand disappoints in June. This decrease take hold in the last month and extended to June. The weak supplies in the market and the weak global demand are the main reasons behind this slump.
5-European PVC get higher for export to CIS countries
European PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) prices goes up for the material that exported to the CIS countries (commonwealth of Independent States). This increase is due to two reasons the first is the higher ethylene prices. The second one is that the electricity prices have increased significantly in the last months.
